In 2008, I traveled to China for the first time to participate in a residency at Fule International Ceramic Art Museum, Fuping, Xian. I have returned a handful of times and worked at different residencies around the country. China in an interesting, exciting, and challenging place to make work. Uninterrupted days in the studio allow me time to develop new ideas, push the scale of the work, and incorporate new imagery. I will be heading back to China in May 2016 to finish the work that I started on my last trip.
